Typically, when people hear the word “summer,” images of beaches, pools, and vacations are the first thoughts that come to mind. I am not one of those people. Maybe it’s because I hate the beach (scalding hot sand and an ocean full of things ready to kill you, fun!), but I think more about what summer represents to us spiritually.

We all grow up hearing about how we get to spend eternity in Heaven with God when we become one of His children. I heard it many times coming up in Sunday school, but I never understood the implications of that concept. I was seven when I became a Christian, and pondering theological concepts wasn’t exactly on my radar. It wasn’t until five years later that I fully realized what that meant, and it terrified me.
