After all, God said it is not good for man to be alone—so He created woman. Then God declared that when a couple marries, they leave their parents, cleave to their spouse, and become one flesh.

It is natural to conclude that because Adam needed Eve and because the two became one flesh, then we are incomplete until we find a spouse.

But that is not so.

On Memorial Day I received an email from my oldest son, Martin, who is the First Sergeant of the 94th Combat Support Hospital deployed to Khost, Afghanistan.  Among other things, he mentioned a recent visit from the Brigade Chaplain team:

Come to find out, our chaplains are Evangelical (one is Baptist). They confirmed what I have seen and felt, that the troops are doing fine without the candy . . . people send in care boxes.  What the soldiers hunger for

I Walked Outside

I walked outside this morning and could not believe that I was feeling a cool breeze. Yes, it seems as though the Fall season is upon us. This afternoon while picking up a prescription at Walgreen’s, I noticed they’re already beginning to display Christmas decorations. I began to think that once the cool air arrives, we all seem to let Fall rush by as we anticipate Winter and we miss the joys of this time of year that God blesses us with.
