Maybe it’s because I hate the beach (scalding hot sand and an ocean full of things ready to kill you, fun!), but I think more about what summer represents to us spiritually.

I heard it many times coming up in Sunday school, but I never understood the implications of that concept. I was seven when I became a Christian, and pondering theological concepts wasn’t exactly on my radar. It wasn’t until five years later that I fully realized what that meant, and it terrified me.

Lately, I can’t stand the song “One is the Loneliest Number.” Not because it is a terrible song, but because it has been hitting a little too close to home. After graduating college and moving out of my parents’ house, I am flying solo during this season of life. There are days that I am cool with it and enjoy the freedom. There are also days that I am lonely and look at puppies on Petfinder for way too long.
