Reflections from a 70.3 Ironman

Iron Man RaceOn June 30, 2013, God graced me with the ability to finish the Buffalo Springs 70.3 Ironman Triathlon, which includes a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run. The experience of training and competing in this event has provided me with the opportunity to learn several lessons about life and reflect on the nature of God. My experience has given me a new awareness and appreciation for all the instances in the Bible where athletic illustrations are used.

Sport was part of the New Testament world so there is no surprise as to why these illustrations were used to teach a spiritual lesson. There is something in the nature of sport that points to a larger reality of life. Follow me on this three-part series as I reflect on my experience.
